My business site does not have any traffic or money. Why do I spend on SEO?

Over the years I have consulted thousands of businesses ranging from Fortune 500 companies to your local mom and pop shops. If there’s one objection most businesses and entrepreneurs make when deciding whether or not to invest in SEO is
“My website is too small. I don’t think SEO will be useful to me”

Understandable enough. If no one’s visiting the site, why should you spend time and money on SEO?
This is exactly how I thought when I started my first website several years back during college days. The site was tiny and only had 4 visitors (3 best friends and a girlfriend that I was dating). My pocket money was so low that I could hardly buy 1-12 sandwiches in an entire month, so no question of spending any money on site’s promotion and hence my question was obvious. If no one’s showing up on the site, why do I even spend time on SEO?

Today, after years of hustle, failures, successes, and experiences of running my and my client’s businesses, I have the answer, and it’s straightforward.
You should spend on SEO especially if no one visits your site.
Why?
The whole point of SEO is to make your website more visible. If you’re not doing SEO, your visibility isn’t increasing. Doing SEO makes the entire difference between having 0 visitors and getting warm leads from your site.

This is still a small and incomplete answer though. Today there are so many methods one can use for marketing including social media, Facebook ads, google ads, sponsored posting, sponsored press releases, and whatnot.

Is SEO important still? Especially as there are SEO campaigns that run forever, many of which do not still produce any tangible results After successfully running a number of businesses for myself and my clients over the years, what I found is shockingly interesting.
SEO is the most cost-effective and long-lasting marketing method out of all the other methods I have used and come across in my life so far, including both online as well as offline methods.
Advertisements in newspapers, magazines, TV, and radio have already gotten outrageously expensive for businesses with small budgets. Spending on facebook/google ad is out of reach too. Although you may get short-term gains, you can quickly burn through a budget.
SEO is different. Although you won’t see an immediate surge in traffic, you will build a foundation that lasts for years. I still get thousands of visitors from blog posts that I wrote 5-6 years ago!
In addition, the quality of traffic from SEO is far better than what you would receive from a PPC campaign. While Organic search pulls incurious, engaged, and warm traffic that is much easier and eager to convert into buyer, PPC on the other hand only attracts traffic as long as you’re paying for that user’s click —and it needs a lot more expertise and money to generate the right kind of curiosity, landing page, and customer journey from a paid ad.

I strongly believe that SEO is vital for every site, including yours. Even if you do not have any money to spend on promotion and literally have no visitors coming on the site on an average day, there are SEO techniques you can use and get the ball rolling. I’ve started and grown so many sites merely on the basis of SEO and trust me it’s not as difficult as some so-called gurus make it sound.
SEO does not at all have to be difficult and take a long time before it starts delivering results if you know the right techniques.
